Prevention is half the battle in caring for your trees and shrubs in Boise, Eagle, Meridian, and Nampa Idaho.

At organic Solutions! Inc., we recognize that lawn care is much more than having green grass.  Our lawn maintenance includes the much needed preventative care for trees and shrubs.  It won’t be long before we will be busy pruning trees and applying spring dormant oil.

If you are not familiar with dormant oil, it is used to treat and destroy the overwintering eggs of insects, caterpillars, and mites that are harmful to your fruit trees and landscape ornamentals.

Applying dormant oil now will help to keep your trees and shrubs healthy and give you a head start on insect management.

If you have had a problem in the past with pesky bugs feasting on your trees and shrubs, you might want to consider applying dormant oil before those trees begin to bud.  For a free estimate on preventative care please contact us.  We can be reached by phone, 208-884-8986 or by email, organicsolutionsinc@outlook.com.

Preventing “Nuisance Fruit” in Boise, Eagle, Meridian, and Nampa Idaho.

At Organic Solutions! Inc, lawn care is about more than just having green grass.  We also specialize in services to manage and care for your trees and shrubs.   As spring approaches we get more and more calls regarding “nuisance fruit” and how to prevent it.

What is “Nuisance fruit”?  Homeowners and landscapers often plant ornamental fruit bearing trees (such as plum and crabapple) because they produce beautiful flowers in the spring and provide nice foliage throughout the summer.  They are sometimes preferable to other trees because they won’t grow too large or too tall for most suburban and urban landscapes.   There are some industrious folks who will find ways to use the fruit that these trees produce, but in most cases the fruit is more of a nuisance than a blessing, especially when the rotting fruit begins to drop all over sidewalks, patios, and driveways.

There are ways to prevent trees from bearing fruit and thus eliminate the mess and safety hazards that comes with unharvested fruit.   At Organic Solutions! Inc., we have the materials to “defruit” your trees but the window of opportunity for best results is now.  It is best to treat the tree while it is blooming or in full bloom because effectiveness is dependent on spraying the flowering bud.  Temperature is also a factor in effective spraying, ideally daytime temperatures should be above 60 degrees but not higher than 95 degrees.

Some other factors to consider before spraying to eliminate fruit is the health of the tree to begin with.  If the tree is already stressed from drought, insects, poor soil, or disease then spraying the trees could cause injury such as leaf scorch that could further weaken the tree’s condition.

With these considerations in mind, you may want to consider hiring a professional for your “defruiting” needs.  The arborists at Organic Solutions! Inc are Boise's, Meridian's, Eagle's, and Nampa's experts in tree care; and we understand the important role your trees play in your home’s landscape. We have the skill and equipment to care for your trees and shrubs according to the very latest guidelines for appearance, health and safety.

If your trees or shrubs could use some professional attention contact us today for a free estimate, by phone, 208-884-8986,  or by email, organicsolutionsinc@outlook.com.  You can also find more great information and contact us through our website, www.idahoorganicsolutions.com.

Benefits of Installing an Automatic Sprinkler System in Boise, Eagle, Meridian, and Nampa Idaho

It might be winter in Idaho but summer is right around the corner and the freezing cold will soon be replaced by long hot days.  Those high temperatures can be very stressful on your lawn and finding the time to water can be even more stressful for those of us with busy lifestyles.
One of the best investments you can make is a professionally installed sprinkler system.  Not only will an automatic sprinkler system help you maintain a beautiful landscape but it is the most efficient and convenient way to ensure that your yard receives the proper amount of watering, without over-or under-watering.
Some of the benefits of an automatic sprinkler system include:
Convenience:  Set a timer and the system does the work for you.  You don’t even have to be home for your lawn to get the water it needs.
Aesthetics and safety:  A garden hose stretched across the lawn isn’t pleasing to the eye and can be a tripping hazard.
Optimal Timing:  It is recommended that you water your lawn in the early morning for maximum results as well as for the health of your lawn.  Most people would rather not have to get up early just turn on their sprinklers.
Cost Effective:  You will actually save money on your water bills because a sprinkler system waters just the right amount and with efficiency.
Environmentally Friendly:  Sprinkler systems are more efficient and therefore your lawn requires less water, which is better for the environment.
A properly designed and professionally installed sprinkler system can not only increase the value of your property but it gives you as the homeowner more time to do the things you really want to do without having to spend the time and energy it takes to keep your lawns and gardens on a consistent and measured watering schedule.
At Organic Solutions! Inc., we can help you carefully design a sprinkler system that will provide maximum coverage to your lawn and gardens as well as benefit the environment.  Every property is unique and we will work with you to create a system that fits into your budget as well as your long term goals for your property.
